Journaling is a great way to get to know ourselves better. We can uncover our thoughts and feelings and why we do certain things.

There have been several studies done to show how journaling positively influences our mental health. It can help manage anxiety and depression, alleviate stress, help us discover solutions, and aid in recovery.

I started journaling after discovering the real benefits of it from Marie Forleo on Marie TV. But I found staring at a blank page was stress inducing for me. I started using journal prompts a few times a week and found it helped me think more clearly when I was journaling.

Instead of having a staring contest with a blank sheet of paper, the prompt gave me a guideline. It helps me to focus and be more mindful while I write.

Journaling is one of the greatest things we can do to better ourselves and is one of the best confidence boosting exercises. You’re taking control of your life by journaling to figure out why you’re lacking confidence in an area and journaling to come up with a solution to build your confidence. That right there should be a little confidence boost for you! You’re taking a step in the right direction!

You can be fully open and honest with yourself. What you journal can be for your eyes only. So don’t hold back. Really be transparent with yourself and get to the heart of the matter.

You don’t need anything elaborate to get started, just something to write with and something to write on. If you want to learn more about starting a journaling practice, check out this article by Grace Moser at Chasing Foxes (this is one of my favorite blogs)
