Ā Does the beginning of fall start to send you into hibernation or busy holiday mode?
Fall is one of the most beautiful, coziest times of the year. The rich tones make us feel snuggly and the excitement of holidays soon approaching keeps us buzzing.
As fall starts to make its presence known and rainy days become frequent, you might start noticing your motivation from summer is dwindling.
In the summer when the sun is shining and it says light outside until 10pm, anything feels possible.
We feel like we can accomplish all our goals.
But then the sun starts to disappear. Our interests go from āletās get it done and achieve my goalsā to āmaybe Iāll make tea and hide in my blankets all day.ā
While itās definitely okay to hide under our blankets sometimes during fall, we donāt want to live there all season long.
Itās important to stay motivated during the rainy days and keep your momentum going.

Why it's Important to Stay Motivated During Fall
Winter will be here before you know it. And if youāre in hibernation or busy holiday mode now, then youāre going to be too far into these mindsets when winter hits.
Itās so easy to lose our momentum when the dark, wintry days come.
Thatās why itās crucial to keep our momentum going all the way through fall, so we still have it when winter arrives.
You made incredible progress towards your goals in the summer, so keep going.
Donāt put your goals on the back burner during the colder seasons.

11 Easy Tips to Stay Motivated in the Fall
1. Review Your Quarterly Goals
Reviewing your quarterly goals is essential in staying motivated.
October 1st marks Q4, the last quarter of the year.
You want to go into this final quarter feeling prepared to accomplish your final yearly goals.
Make sure these last quarter goals still align with what your goals are. If they donāt, make your adjustments now before the final quarter starts.
If they do still align with where you want to go, great!
Look at your quarterly goals often. Use them as a reminder of why your goals are important and what you need to do to accomplish them. This will help you stay motivated when you start to forget what youāre working towards.
2. Set Small Daily Goals
Using small daily goals is a helpful way to stay motivated during the gloomier days.
By working towards your goal every day no matter how big or small the task is, youāll see progress. And that progress is motivating and exciting!
Your momentum will still be continuing. Getting into this habit now of achieving small daily tasks will be super beneficial when winter hits and busy holiday season is upon us.

3. Read Books That Inspire You
Fall is a great time for all the readers. A rainy day is the perfect weather for curling up with a good book.
So why not make it a book that will help you stay motivated on working towards your goals?
Reading other peopleās stories on how they achieved their dreams is inspiring and motivating. Plus thereās no shortage of this genre.
Visit your local library or bookstore or download an eBook or audiobook. Get cozy with your favorite warm beverage (mine is chai tea lattes) and start reading to feel inspired.
4. Listen to Podcasts That Motivate You
I walk my dog, Stella, every morning and I love listening to a motivational podcast during that time.
It puts me in a good mood, and I feel ready to take on the day.
Motivating podcasts are a great tool because you can listen to them while you work on something.
You could be working on a task to achieve your goal or just cleaning the house and trying to get the motivation to work on your goal.
And just like books, thereās no shortage of incredible podcasts to listen to.
Some of my favorites are:
1. The Marie Forleo Podcast (I love her audiobook Everything is Figureoutable. Iāve listened to it twice)
2. The Jamie Kern Lima Show (I also love her audiobook, Believe It)
3. Baking for Business (even if youāre not a baker, this show is incredibly inspiring!)
4. How to Sell Your Stuff on Etsy (great for small business owners or people who want to be small business owners)
5. Side Hustle School with Chris Guillebeau (another great one for small business owners)

5. Read Inspiring Quotes
Quotes are like bite-sized servings of motivation.
You can easily read several of them in one sitting.
Scan through Pinterest or this list of 49 inspirational quotes and pick out a few that resonate with you.
Write them down and place them where youāll see them often.
I like to create phone backgrounds with quotes that motivate me. But you can also put them on sticky notes and place them around your house. Or you can make them your laptop wallpaper or write them down daily in your journal.
6. Take a Course that Gets You Closer to Your Goal
Learning is a great way to stay motivated.
Itās exciting to learn something new about what youāre passionate about. And youāll be motivated to start incorporating that new knowledge to get closer to achieving your goals.
Nowadays if thereās something you want to learn, you can and usually right from your own home.
With learning platforms like Skillshare, classes are taught by industry professionals at affordable prices.
With Skillshare, you can sign up for a monthly membership and then get unlimited access to thousands of classes on varying topics.Ā
One of my goals this year has been to get better at drawing, so Iāve signed up for several illustrating courses like this one on Skillshare and even one course on animation!
7. Have an Accountability Buddy
Having an accountability buddy is beneficial, because well it keeps you accountable.
Staying accountable helps you stay motivated.
Knowing you have a person to check in with makes you more responsible. You donāt want to show up to your accountability time with nothing new to report.
Find a trusted friend, neighbor, coworker, family member, or someone with similar goals as you.
Make checking in with each other at least a weekly occurrence to hold yourself accountable and stay motivated.
8. Join a Club or Start Your Own
Joining a club or starting your own club that revolves around what your goal is a fantastic way to stay motivated.
Youāll be around people who are working towards the same thing as you. Being around other driven people will only increase your drive and motivation.
Itāll also make it more fun to work towards your goal because you wonāt be working towards it alone.
You can check meetup.com to find clubs or do a quick google search typing in what type of club you want to join and in what city.
If there arenāt any clubs that are about your goal or interest, start your own. Having one or two other people working alongside you is better than none.

9. Try a New Hobbie
This is my favorite way to avoid burning out.
I love working on my cross-stitch store. Every night after my hubby goes to bed (he has to get up at 5am for work!) I will work on designing or test stitching a new cross-stitch pattern.
While this is a passion of mine, there are definitely some nights where I just need a break from it.
But I donāt want to break the habit of working towards something during this time.
So, Iāll bust out one of my diamond art projects. This still keeps me working on something during that designated time and it breaks up my routine a little bit.
After taking a night or two away from cross-stitching, Iām excited and motivated to start working on it again!

10. Schedule Quick Wins
An easy trick for when you need more confidence or motivation is to add a few quick wins to the start of your day.
Quick wins are tasks you can easily finish in a few minutes, like setting up appointment, throwing laundry into the dryer, or framing a photo.
By adding quick wins to the top of your daily to do list, theyāll give you a boost of momentum that you can carry with you through the rest of your day.
Learn more about adding quick wins to your schedule here.
11. Take Little Breaks When You Need Them
Staying motivated is important, but itās not going to happen if you burn yourself out.
Scheduling time to take a break throughout a busy day is a great way to rejuvenate yourself.
If I have a busy day of marking things off my to do list, then I reward myself by snuggling with my dog after every few tasks.
After a quick puppy cuddle, I feel ready to finish the rest of my to do list.
Think of something like cuddling with your dog or cat that you can do a couple times throughout the day to give yourself a little break.
Maybe you go outside for several minutes to take a quick walk or to sit and enjoy the crisp autumn air.
Maybe you have a favorite little treat like Hersheyās kisses you can give yourself after completing a couple tasks. Give yourself a few minutes to really sit and enjoy your treat.
Whatever it is, just make sure it rejuvenates you so you can stay motivated and continue working towards your dreams!
Let me know in the comments what tip to stay motivated youāre going to try whether it’s signing up for a course on Skillshare, reading an inspiring book, taking little breaks, or any of the others! I’d love to hear from you!
